Sikhism
Sikhism is founded upon the life and teaching of Guru Nanak Dev JiThe founder of Sikhism (1469-1539) and nine successive gurus who lived in the northern part of South Asia between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries. Sikhism is a world wide religion with nearly 30 million adherents which is about 1% of the world's population.
The resources contained in the list of subjects to the left are a basic introduction to the facts and beliefs of Sikhism. They are a portal or window into the world of Sikhism and by following the weblinks and bibliographies, an enquirer may discover more and more about this faith. Technical words are highlighted and these will lead to more detailed definitions.
The 24 units are based on the QCA non-statutory framework for Religious Education and provide not only a comprehensive guide to the factual and belief structures of Sikhism, but also address the issues that Sikhism encounters as it engages with the 21st century
