This subject knowledge resource is based on and compliant with the non-statutory National Framework for Religious Education in England which was developed by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority [QCA] working with teachers, advisers, inspectors, and representatives of faith communities and belief traditions.
It addresses the main aspects of belief for the ten groups listed and the issues encountered in the 21st century. Each belief section contains 24 units, written either by someone widely respected in their particular tradition or with long experience. These units provide a comprehensive guide to the traditions listed for those working in education.
The resource should be useful to a range of different groups:
Secondary subject specialist teachers of RE wishing to confirm knowledge
Secondary teachers, with other specialisms, teaching RE and who may be unfamiliar with aspects of a particular tradition
Primary teachers of RE who had little subject specialist time in their training trainees
Theology graduates wishing to extend their knowledge of subject content and other graduates preparing to teach RE and needing to strengthen their subject knowledge
Anyone with an interest in key aspects of religious belief but who is not involved in formal education
